Industrialization in communities poses a challenge

Of course, while there are issues in terms of capital investment funds and human resources, I think we have been able to overcome the technical issues for expanding our aquaculture harvest. Since the start of trial operation in 2019, we have been able to improve and evolve the level of operations of closed-loop intermediate aquaculture farms, which uses the technology of the Danish subsidiary of the Okamura Food Group customized to Japanese specifications.

Expanding and streamlining our aquaculture harvest

The area around Norway’s fjords, now known as an aquaculture powerhouse, was also once nothing but countryside. As the aquaculture industry developed, production plants and logistics bases were built, people gathered, and it became a major economic zone.

I would like more people to be interested in our company, to feel the appeal of aquaculture and to participate, and to create a virtuous cycle that promotes industrialization in the community.

In order to do this, we need to expand our aquaculture business and make it large enough to attract interest. In addition, if we do not improve efficiency and make it a high-value-added business, we will not be able to expand. My role is to move forward with these efforts.

Advancement of Aquaculture Projects Linking Local Governments and Fishery Cooperatives

Japan Salmon Farm currently engages in aquaculture in the towns of Fukaura and Imabetsu in Aomori Prefecture, where the population is declining. Additionally, in areas other than Fukaura Town and Imabetsu Town, we contribute to regional revitalization through industrial promotion and job creation by collaborating with local governments and fishery cooperatives.
